May 26: Seminar on Quality Improvement of Education in Africa (The 13th GLMi International Development Seminar)

2017/05/05

GLM Institute will hold our 13th international development seminar on “Quality Improvement of Basic Education in Africa through Community Participation” on May 26th, 2017 (Fri) in Wesley Center (Tokyo).。
* The entire seminar will be held in English
Under the objective of improving the quality of education in the Republic of Kenya, in March 2017, we have initiated a project called “Capacity Development Project for a Village-Based Sustainable Primary Education Strategy in Kajiado County (CADVES)” with the grant assistance for Japanese NGO projects from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. We would like to take this opportunity to hold a seminar on participatory school management in Africa, which is one of the key components of CADVES.

As guest speakers, we will have researchers and practitioners in the field of basic education in Africa as well as Mr. L. Samperu, the community liaison officer of CADVES. They will be giving presentations on various challenges of primary education in the rural areas of Kenya, as well as on practical solutions to such problems. The presentations will be followed by a group discussion, in which the guest speakers and participants will engage in lively discussions on how to overcome the challenges of school management in Kenya.

We would like to welcome a wide range of participants – from those who have just picked up an interest in Africa or education in developing countries, to the professional researchers and practitioners in the field of education with particular focus on participatory school management. We look forward to seeing you all!
